The Peachtree Ridge Robo Lions Team 1261 based in Suwanee, Georgia were able to qualify for the FIRST Robotics World Championships that took place in St. Louis, Missouri this past week. We were one of just twelve Georgia FRC teams to qualify and made it farther than we have ever done before!

Clawing our way through two days of qualification matches, the Robo Lions placed thirteenth out of seventy-five competing teams within Curie, one of the 8 divisions during FRC Championships. From there, they were chosen to join the 5th seed alliance captain Team 5406 Celt-X from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and their alliance partners Team 3641 Flying Toasters from South Lyon, Michigan. Team 2883 F.R.E.D from Warroad, Minnesota was chosen to be the backup 4th robot on the alliance. The determined trio fought hard only to be stopped short in the semi-final matches, losing by a small margin of first 6 points, then 13 points. Still an incredible feat for our team that has never played in eliminations at Championships before!

On August 26, 2016, the Robo Lions were invited to the Maxxis Facility to present the organization's efforts in advancing the STEM initiative. The team explained the dynamics of their 2016 Stronghold Robot including vision tracking and its autonomous abilities. We explained how this year proved to be fierce but it was no match for Team 1261 who bore through bent metals and broken LEDs. We also demonstrated the astounding durability of the robot's tires, supplied by Maxxis themselves! We loved the chance to demonstrate how Maxxis' support helped us out throughout the season, and are incredibly grateful for the warn welcome they offered us this week. We are forever thankful for sponsors like Maxxis who continue to support us in our endeavors.

The Peachtree Ridge Robo Lions will be hosting a car wash on Saturdays May 15th and May 21st in order to raise funds to keep the organization running smoothly. Please come to support your local robotics team and contribute to the technological advances of Team 1261. If you are unable to attend any of these car wash dates, you can also make a donation to the team by visiting our website at prhsrobotics.com and clicking the Donate button. We are a 501(c)3 organization so all of our donations are tax-deductible and immensely appreciated. We hope to see the entire community at our car washes!

2016: Robo Lions visit Maxxis
